The Loom of Reality: Why Your Interest is the Ultimate Programmer

The Loom of Reality: Why Your Interest is the Ultimate Programmer

Dr B.S.Chakravarthy

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to effortlessly achieve their goals while others struggle, even with the best intentions? The secret lies not just in what you want, but in how your mind learns and builds your reality. It all comes down to two simple, powerful concepts: interest and repetition.

Imagine your mind as a vast, open field. Every time you think a thought or take an action, you're walking across that field. The first time you walk, you barely leave a mark. But if you walk the same path again and again, a clear trail begins to form. Do this enough times, and that trail becomes a well-worn road, easy to follow without even thinking. This is the essence of repetition. Science confirms this; as researchers at the University of Warwick have shown, repeated actions carve strong pathways in your brain that can even outlast the initial reasons you started. Your brain isn't really concerned with your intentions; it cares about what you repeat.

Now, here's where interest comes in. Simply walking the same path without caring won't make it a beautiful, lasting road. It will just be a rut. Your brain needs a reason to truly invest in building that path. This "reason" is what we call interest, and it's deeply tied to our fundamental drives: curiosity, survival, and even connection. When you are truly interested in something, your brain releases special chemicals like acetylcholine and dopamine. These chemicals tell your brain: "This is important! Make this path strong and permanent."

Think about the ancient practice of tapasya, where one repeats a mantra or a ritual to appease a god. While we may view this as a spiritual quest for a boon, there is a profound science behind it. When you repeat a mantra with deep interest and belief, you are performing a mental repetition so intense it bypasses the "scattered" noise of daily life. You are essentially using your hormones to answer the "why" and your neural pathways to build the "how." Eventually, you reach your destination because you have literally re-wired your mind to perceive and create that reality.

In Telugu, there is a skeptical idiom: "Mantalaky chintakayalu raalataayaa?" It asks if tamarind fruits will fall just by chanting spells. The truth is, they will—if your chant is backed by the unwavering intention of a programmer. If you do not take up the keyboard of your own mind, the world becomes your programmer, choosing a reality that suits its interests rather than yours.

The choice is yours: will you be the architect of your own life, or will you let the world draft the blueprints for you? If you begin to show genuine interest and pair it with relentless repetition, you are no longer just dreaming. You are programming. And when you become the programmer, the reality you desire is no longer a wish—it is an inevitability
